ABOUT CAROLINE

My name is Caroline Brunson, and I am the founder of Touchstone Horse LLC. Horses have been an integral part of my life from a young age, and over time, I’ve come to deeply appreciate their unique ability to guide us back into alignment with our core values and authentic selves.

What makes horses so powerful in this work is their honesty. They respond not to what we say, but to what we feel—offering immediate, nonjudgmental feedback that helps bring awareness to patterns, emotions, and behaviors we may not even realize we’re carrying.

In their presence, people often find clarity, connection, and a renewed sense of direction.

My Beginning

From the time I was five years old, growing up in England, horses were more than just a pastime—they were a home. When I moved to the U.S., that sense of familiarity was shaken by a culture shift, from London to a new life in America. Yet, even in that disorientation, I realized horses were still my anchor—they had a quiet power to comfort, guide, and transform. I felt called to explore how these animals could offer even deeper meaning in a structured way.

I began as an equine specialist, and later earned my Master’s in Social Work. As a licensed clinical social worker, I integrate evidence-based therapies—like cognitive-behavioral therapy, EMDR, solution-focused approaches, and mindfulness—with the embodied wisdom of equine work. And beyond that, I’m also a dedicated rider.

I’m proud to be an NRHA World Champion in the Intermediate Non-Pro category, and I finished in the top five in both the Non-Pro and Limited Non-Pro divisions. At the same time, I work in high-stress environments—in the emergency room, responding to trauma and crisis situations, and on the behavioral health unit, where I help stabilize patients during times of acute crisis. I also work in a crisis unit, providing immediate evaluations, and I see individual clients in an outpatient practice.

Through both my competitive riding and my therapeutic work, I’ve come to understand something crucial: when we step onto a big stage—whether it’s a competition ring or a professional arena—what often feels most daunting is not the external pressure, but the internal beliefs. I’ve learned that these fears—like "I’m not good enough" or "I’ll never succeed"—aren’t just obstacles; they are invitations to rewrite the narrative. And I’ve come to understand that these beliefs often have deep roots—sometimes formed by past traumas, losses, or life events—that shape how we see ourselves today.

These experiences can color the lens through which we interpret situations, especially as adults. So, it’s so important that we slow down, recognize those patterns, and understand their origins. Once we see them, we can begin to create new, helpful thoughts—thoughts that guide us toward more supportive emotions in the moment. And from those emotions, we can adapt our behaviors—so we act with more confidence, more intention, and more alignment with who we truly are.

This is the heart of my work—bringing together a lifelong love of horses, a passion for healing, and a belief that everyone has the power to transform their story.

My Approach

I bring together clinical expertise and equine experiential learning to create a grounded, structured, and supportive environment for growth.

As an Advanced Trainer certified through the Equine Experiential Education Alliance (E3A), I use an industry-recognized framework that ensures each session is intentional, safe, and impactful. This work is always experiential and ground-based, allowing clients to engage with the horses in a way that fosters awareness, trust, and meaningful change.

Clinical Background

In addition to my work with horses, I am a licensed clinical social worker with a master’s degree in social work. My professional background includes experience in emergency room settings, behavioral health units, and crisis care, where I developed a deep understanding of how people navigate stress, overwhelm, and complex emotional experiences.

At Touchstone Horse, our programs are designed to meet you exactly where you are—offering space for reflection, connection, and meaningful change alongside the horse.

Bringing It Together

By integrating clinical knowledge with the intuitive, reflective nature of horses, I offer a holistic approach to personal and professional growth.

Whether you are seeking individual support or team development, each session is tailored to help you:

  • Build self-awareness

  • Strengthen trust and communication

  • Recognize patterns and shift them

  • Connect with your strengths

  • Create lasting, meaningful change

I walk alongside you in this process—and so do the horses—offering a space that is safe, reflective, and grounded in growth. This work is about more than insight—it’s about experience, connection, and transformation. And you don’t have to do it alone.
